Part One provides an introduction to this matter of both women and this nation, America, abandoning their places—in moral behavior and social practices. Next we examine the social changes that took place for the first time in the history of America, whereby young ladies (teens) left the home and established independent lives, combined with a marked departure in dress, social acquaintances, and leisurely practices. Many new vices fueled this change.
